One summer evening 30 years ago, Elin Pelin (a wonderful short-story writer, after whom the street where the restaurant is located is named) was sitting under the linden-trees in front of this restaurant with the poetess Dora Gabe and, probably after a drink or two, came up with a most important question: "Why is this place not called ‘Under the Linden-trees?!" A few days later the sign above the doors was changed and ever since has read ‘Pod Lipite’. Today, the lindens are still there and so is the restaurant, with its traditional atmosphere, old wooden furniture, rugs and pottery, folklore singers and one of the best chefs in Sofia.
