Blimey, where to begin? First of all, a hearty welcome to Sofia’s leading internet guide! This is a wonderful city and we’re lucky enough to live here, spending our days researching where best to eat, sleep, drink, shop, and have fun – all for you!
We’ve got our favourites of course: the local dishes of the superbly monikered Hadjidraganovite Kashti take some beating, and we’re still nowhere near trying all of the beers on offer at Schweik; trust us though, it’s not for lack of trying!
In terms of shopping, the Orpheus Pharmacy has a great range of health & beauty goods and offers a discount for regular customers. For sheer fun, in our opinion you just can’t beat an amusement park, which is why we love Sofia Land so much. If all the rides and attractions down there don’t get your heart pumping and adrenaline flowing then nothing will.
For excursions outside the city then you should definitely visit the beautiful Vitosha mountain, which rises imperiously to 2290 metres above Sofia. The neighbouring towns of Plovdiv and Varna are well worth a visit too, particularly in summer when they play host to several cultural happenings. For culture right here in Sofia, our favourites are the (admittedly somewhat contrasting) National Archeaological Museum and the so-cutting-edge-it’s-bleeding Lessedra Art Gallery.
