Brave Sofia Defeated

CSKA Sofia lost 3-1 to Liverpool last Wednesday in their UEFA Champions League clash. After starting at a high tempo and creating numerous good chances, CSKA were dealt a sucker punch when Liverpool scored the first through Cisse, and Morientes added a second whilst heads were down. Hope was restored when Dimitrov snuck in at the back post before half time, but Liverpool dominated the second half and Morientes added a third to kill off the game. There are plenty of positives for CSKA to take from the match and overall they acquited themself well against admittedly superior opposition.

The return leg will be played at Anfield on the 23rd of August and it is unlikely CSKA will progress to the group stages.
