New government installed

 

A coalition government formed by socialists, centrists, and ethnic Turks was installed today in Sofia, two months after the general election.

The leader of the Socialist party, 39 year old Sergey Stanishev, was made Prime Minister following the approval of his nomination by 168 members of parliament to 68. Shortly after being sworn in, Mr Stanishev pledged that his new government will prioritise economic growth, social responsibilty, and European Union integration.
