Giant new consumer temple opened

Sofia's newest shopping mall has been opened in the solemn co-presence of Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boiko Borissov, Carrefour CEO Christian Sharitat and the ambassador of France, Etienne de Poncins.

Over six floors, three of which are underground, shoppers will be able to stroll along the Mall of Sofia's numerous showcases. The mall's anchor, the Carrefour hypermarket, alone stretches out over 9000 square meters, making it by far the country's biggest.

The mall is Bulgaria's largest retail complex and contains 185 stores, restaurants, recreation centres, bars and cafeterias with a parking capacity for almost 3,000 vehicles - adding up to a total area of about 65,000 square meters.

But if malls aren't your thing, Sofia still has plenty of other places to shop.
