A tour in time

Herding sheep not on your to-do list? It should be and RebelFarmer in Bulgaria has the holiday for you! RebelFarmer in partnership with the Fund for the Wild Fauna and Flora Bulgaria decided to support the rehabilitation of one of the ancient Bulgarian transhumance routes, a practice that was lost under communism. According to the RebelFarmer website “Transhumance is the seasonal movement of shepherds and their livestock. They migrate between mountains and lowlands pastures as the seasons change”. Now you can be a part of the journey. The spring transhumance took place 1 May- 8 May but you can still join a shepherd family as they move 200-400 sheep from their summer base in the Strandzha Mountains to their winter spot at the foot of the Kotel mountains between 2 October-9 October.
